CLIMAX’ MotoGP WINS PRESTIGIOUS ACCOLADES FOR XBOX LIVE RACING EXPERIENCES
Los Angeles, CA – April 16, 2003 – Climax, one of the world’s leading developers of interactive entertainment, today announced some recent accolades for its high-intensity motorcycle racing game, MotoGP 2. The game received the 2003 Xbox Award for Excellence in Live Implementation from Microsoft’s Advanced Technology Group, the Official Xbox Magazine’s 2002 Award for the Best Use of Xbox Controller, and was a finalist for the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences’ 2003 Console Racing Game of the Year. Moto GP 1 and Moto GP 2, both published by THQ, are the first and second racing games released for the Xbox Live service.
Additionally, Climax said that it will soon open a U.S. studio in Venice, CA. The new office will leverage the technology developed by Climax’ European studios, as well as the company’s name and solid reputation, to build the brand in the U.S. market and pursue projects with major Hollywood studios. The official launch announcement will come soon.
“We are thrilled that MotoGP 2 is getting such positive feedback,” said Karl Jeffery, CEO of Climax. “We at Climax have worked hard to build both our brand and our solid reputation. Our commitment to keeping this industry on its toes, and really pushing the envelope creatively, is undoubtedly reflected in the quality games like MotoGP. It is an honor to be recognized for a corporate mission that we take great pride in.”
This sequel to the critically Acclaimed Xbox Live! MotoGP, MotoGP 2 offers eight different racing modules, and lets players create custom riders and race them online at sixty frames per second. More aggressive players can get their competitive juices flowing by utilizing Microsoft’s online voice communication system to talk trash to other riders at breakneck speeds. The multi player game brings together superior vehicle physics, 22 fully licensed riders and bikes, 16 accurately created real-world tracks and one additional track, and an arcade-style control system with simulation features for the expert player. Published by THQ, MotoGP 2 is due for release around Easter.
MotoGP, managed by Dorna Sports, a company based in Spain that runs the world’s top motorcycle sports, is the world’s fastest, most advanced form of motorcycle racing. Leading motorcycle manufacturers, including Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Aprilia, Ducati, Kawasaki and Proton all participate with their own state-of-the-art, high-tech motorcycles unique to the MotoGP World Championship. Climax’ video game version of the sport draws elements from the culture and vehicles of MotoGP to thrill both avid gamers and die-hard racing fans alike.
