Bobby Hurley Returns To NCAA* Final Four To Coach Finalists In Xbox Live Hoop Madness Tourney

Online Video Game Tournament To Crown Its Own Champ

WHAT: NCAA* March Madness is taking over New Orleans. Who will score in the Big Easy? College basketball great, Bobby Hurley, formerly of Duke University, will use his NCAA tourney experience to coach finalists in "Xbox Live Hoop Madness," a real-time Xbox Live basketball tournament that mirrors the actual NCAA Basketball Championship to be held in New Orleans during the NCAA Final Four.

At the beginning of March, Xbox Live took 1,500 top-ranked eligible players on "SEGA Sports* NCAA* College Basketball 2K3" video game, and extended invites to them to compete in the tournament. They were later narrowed down to the best 65 players. Like the NCAA tournament, the Xbox Live tourney began on March 18th with the Play-In Game between the 64th and 65th-ranked players. The 64 remaining players then went head-to-head in fast and furious rounds of play leading to the Regional Semifinals and the Regional Finals. The four players who battled their way to the Finals won the trip to New Orleans to compete in the Xbox Live Hoop Madness Final Four. The winner of the Championship Game to be played on Sunday, April 6th, will win tickets to the 2003 NCAA Men's Championship Game.
