E3 2004 PreviewsKnights of the Old Republic is one of the best RPG’s available for the Xbox, and some might argue the best ever. It allowed you to control either a male or female Jedi-in-training and guide in the ways of dark or light. Well, the eagerly awaited sequel is in production and was on display at this year’s E3.

Knights of the Old Republic Sith Lord will feature 7 worlds hosting many different areas each. Players will also be able to revisit old areas from the previous game for various reasons. Each world has its own changing environmental effects and sports realistic terrain. The different environments look beautiful, but that’s nothing new.

New to KOTOR 2 are various battle abilities and animations. The look of battles will have more variety now, which is especially nice for those that played through the first one 4 or 5 times. Also, light saber battles have been enhanced; now you’ll actually be able to see your character advance as a Jedi because he/she will do more moves as they level up.

You will also now be able to sway your party’s alignment towards your own, so you won’t have to worry about losing anybody due to your decisions. There will be 10 allies throughout the game, including some familiar faces from the first. There will also be 60 new force powers added on top of what was already there.

As far as sound is concerned, all voices and sounds will either be brand new or improved in some way. The soundtrack will also be fully orchestrated, so we can definitely expect top-notch sound in this sequel.

LucasArts is planning on a worldwide release for KOTOR 2 in February 2005 for both the Xbox and PC.
