Crash Bandicoot and Dr. Neo Cortex – that
twosome is about as appealing a prospect as, say, ice cream and mustard. Some
things simply do not go together … or do they?
In Crash Twinsanity, a Traveller’s Tales/Vivendi Universal action/adventure title for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, Crash and Neo are paired together to thwart the evil and diabolical plans of a new threat to Crash’s island paradise.
“The level of environments have never really been done in a Crash game,” stated developers from Traveller’s Tales. “With the new physics engine, we can do a lot of cool things.”
In Twinsanity, players will not only have Crash and Neo working together, but Crash can actually use Neo, at times, as a weapon. But don’t expect this version of Crash to be like any other you have encountered before. While the scenario may be a little different, the overall tone and mood has also undergone some humorous updates. Why?
Because the person behind the storyline is none other than award-winning animation filmmaker/writer Jordan Reichek, of Ren & Stimpy fame.
With lush environments, a host of dangers and challenges, and reactive enemies, this title bears the marks of a game that will be a hoot to play. Gamers will be able to play as Crash, Neo, Nina Cortex and the tandem of Crash and Neo. At times, Crash will have to run interference for Neo and protect him through the level. At other times, Neo becomes Crash’s weapon of choice to thwart the enemy.
The environments are somewhat interactive, and particularly come into play when you are moving obstacles from the path of Neo as he runs through a level blinded by a bee hive, or being chased by a bear. The game will also feature streaming worlds, which will eliminate some load times.
Light-hearted, entertaining, action packed with all the elements of a good arcade romp, the flavor of a Crash Bandicoot tale and enough variations on the theme to keep players enthralled, Twinsanity advances the franchise in an enjoyable way.
Crash Twinsanity is scheduled for release in the third quarter of the year and will be rated for Everyone.
