E3 2004 PreviewsCapcom’s Capcom vs. SNK was the last crossover fighting game to feature pugilists from Capcom’s Street Fighter series as well as SNK’s plethora of fighting games (Samurai Showdown, Fatal Fury, The King of Fighters).  The game, developed by Capcom, had a distinct feel unique to Capcom’s fighting games.  However, this time around, SNK is behind the wheel for SNK vs. Capcom: Chaos.  This title has the distinct SNK flair for fighting games, and as a result, will feel pretty different from Capcom vs. SNK.

SVC: Chaos gives you control of 36 characters from SNK’s franchises and Capcom’s Street Fighter series, including Shiki and Athena, two characters exclusive to the game. The main gameplay focus is on performing super special moves and even Exceed moves, which inflict massive amounts of damage on your opponents. Another new move in the game is the Forward Ground Step, which adjusts your attack and interrupts your foe’s timing.

The game will also feature 16 different boss characters and four hidden characters, multiple play modes, eight varying difficulty modes, and full Xbox Live compatibility.

The graphics were right on par with the arcade version.  The 2D sprites were meticulously detailed and extremely well animated, and the environments looked hand-drawn and pretty great.  The characters, even the Capcom ones, had a very unique SNK flavor to them.

SVC: Chaos is set to hit the Xbox late this September.
