Conker is back but this time he’s on the Xbox. Actually I should probably say that Conker is FINALLY almost finished and ready to be released. At E3 2005 the game was on display at the Microsoft booth so gamers can get their hands dirty with the game. Yes I said hands dirty because in case you didn’t know Conker is a potty mouth squirrel. This isn’t a kids game and children should be kept far away from Conker on Xbox.
The game had a ton of levels playable at E3 and I tried out the level that is based upon the movie Dracula. The main villain on the level came out dressed just like Dracula does in the movie at his castle. The level was based on the castle from the movie as well. The first thing noticeable about the game is the level of detail in the graphics. This game looks amazing with Conker being extremely detailed. The fur effects for Conker is a sight to witness since I’ve never seen fur on a creature in a game look so good before. The graphics for the other characters in the game were just as detailed. The castle level didn’t look as good as the characters but some of the other levels on display at E3 look incredible with outstanding detail for the stages.
The level I played had me using Conker to blow up some zombies with a shot gun. The controls were well done but the camera angle seemed to get a little crazy at times. You can control the camera angle by using the right analog stick on the controller so it wasn’t a big issue to correct the camera. The purpose of the stage was to blow the heads off of the Zombies and if you didn’t get a head shot the zombies would stay alive. It was a constant wave of zombies coming after me when I would miss the head shot. I was blowing out parts of the zombies with the shotgun and even reduced one zombie to just a head. But the head kept coming after me until I put it out of his misery.
Conker is shaping up to be a great title for Xbox and it is coming out this year. The game is heavily influenced by movies with most of the levels being based off of classic films such as Alien, Terminator, Saving Private Ryan and the Dracula movie. Hopefully the rest of the game will be as entertaining as the demo I played at E3 2005.
