E3 2003- First Look

DC Comics character Lobo is being turned into a game, and Kemco was running a movie clip of the game at its booth at E3. Lobo’s game is closely based on his comic, and has a strong mature, sarcastic theme to it.

The game begins with Lobo, a sort of anti-hero with an attitude. He’s broke and needs to make a quick buck. Deciding he wants to become a bounty hunter, he seeks out the top ten most wanted baddies in the galaxy and ends up becoming one himself due to his reckless behavior.

Lobo is a 3rd-person action shooter that has waves of bad guys coming at you. You will beat them down using your fists, knives, and guns on your way to the big bounty. During fights, limbs will fly. Arms can be cut off to display sprays of blood. Lobo will even be able to transform into various beasts, such as ghosts, skeletons, and other insane creatures. Environments will react to the action by taking damage, and there will even be times you can ride Space Dolphins.1

This year’s E3 has really shown a lot of new arcade style beat ‘em up titles and Lobo definitely stands out. Its sarcastic humor and violent nature sets it apart from all the rest. There wasn’t a playable version of the game available, but by the looks of it I’m sure it will attract a number of people. The graphics are looking nice, and the gameplay looks simple yet entertaining. Keep checking in for more information on this title until its release in 2004.
