The Kore Gang Preview
E3 2003 - Hands On
When I was in the CDV booth, most of the games that they had showcased were for the PC. CDV is also the developer that brought out one of my new favorite RTS games, Blitzkrieg, so if you’re familiar with the product you’ll know who I’m talking about. Well, they now have a couple of games listed to head to the Xbox, and Kore Gang was one of them.
Kore Gang centers on a character named Pixie, an outdoorsy and excitement-craving individual. She has a repelling accident one day, and wakes up in the laboratory of a wacky scientist who outfits her with a mobile suit called the Kore. Well, she, her dog, and her buddy all three wind up sharing the suit to go and rescue the doctor after the bad guys have kidnapped him. One really unique thing about the game is the fact that you can switch between the three characters on the fly, and each has his or her own abilities. Pixie is of course more athletic since she is an extreme sports nut, her buddy has stronger attack power, and her dog has an increased sense of smell and hearing to play into parts of the levels. The gamplay was enjoyable, and switching around was a breeze thanks to a simple trigger press switching method. The graphics are looking very colorful and fun, and there are even some hints scattered along the level that I played in which weren’t obnoxious, but did help to get into the game quickly.
Kore Gang will be a platform style title to hit the Xbox exclusively during the fourth quarter of 2004.
