War is nasty, and chaotic at best. Men of
Valor, from developer 2015 and Vivendi Universal, is hoping to bring home the
true nature of the monster while creating an immersive gameplaying experience
for fans of shooter titles.
MOV follows an American Marine through the early stages of conflict in Vietnam, up until the Tet Offensive. The gamer is in charge of a group of soldiers sent on a variety of missions, and into an array of situations that will have even veteran FPS fans wondering if some of these scenarios can be won.
A group of Marines need support and they need it in a hurry. The enemy has them pinned down and they cannot advance further toward their objective. Making matters worse is that steady barrage of shells is from your own side. Through tunnels and jungle, Men of Valor steps up the challenge by using a responsive AI that will assess what you are doing and counter tactically.
Other features include:
-
Missions that are based on actual events.
-
Uniforms, weapons, and vehicles reflect the actual era and play accurately.
-
A target rich environment--sky-filling helicopter raids, intense jungle fighting, harrowing assaults against fanatically defended enemy emplacements.
-
Several gameplay modes which challenges players to man the door gun on a Huey, steer a riverboat, or call down shells as the forward observer. Mission types include pilot rescues, recon patrols, POW rescue, and search-and-destroy.
-
Play as either the Vietcong or the US in multiplayer mode on Xbox Live.
-
Play through the entire single-player campaign cooperatively with System Link, or on Xbox Live! with two-player split screen.
-
Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
According to spokesman for the developers, MOV will offer 20 solid hours of gameplay.
Some of the acting is a bit over the top and even the vocal dialog in the version shown was a little forced. But when it comes to the combat, this title is a steady barrage of action.
This title has not yet been rated, will be available on both the Xbox and PC and will ship in October.
