Zoom talks about the ADSL X4 and the world of routers
The X4 was designed to support full rate ADSL broadband and operates completely independently of the PC, being controller based. This means that the X4 will deliver as much bandwidth as the user can obtain or wants to pay for from their service provider.

The Zoom ADSL X4 includes a NAT firewall for security, and provides shared Internet access for up to 253 concurrent users when plugged into a network hub or wireless LAN access point. The ADSL X4 has two RJ-11 jacks, including one jack with a built-in filter for use with a telephone, answering machine or fax machine. Zoom supports the ADSL X4 with a two-year warranty, European and U.S. multi-lingual support teams, and twenty-five years of experience as a manufacturer of communications products. Zoom ADSL products are provided with multi-lingual documentation in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch and Danish.
